Intern, Hardware

Apply
Zurich On-site Internship

About Baseline

Open source revolutionised how we write software, but its impact on robotics stays limited due to expensive hardware accessible only to well-funded labs. We run that hardware as shared infrastructure for the broader community, billed only for active compute. For a given task, policies are evaluated under similar conditions, giving researchers common ground for fair comparisons.

In this role you will

  • Assemble each station from arms, frames, cameras, and on-station compute into one working rig.
  • Bring each station up through calibration and bench tests until a task runs reliably.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures, mounts, and reset mechanisms keeping tasks repeatable between runs.
  • Track fleet failures (worn parts, loose connectors, drifting cameras) and fold fixes back in.

What we hope you'll bring

  • Experience with physical hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, benchwork, and mechanical drawings.
  • CAD modelling experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) for fixtures, mounts, grippers, etc.
  • Python experience to script tests and log sensor data.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every qualification.

  • Location: Zurich, on-site 5 days a week.
  • Duration: 3-6 months.
